BlackBerry users should be readying themselves for a big summer. Along with the candybar Bold and clamshell KickStart we should soon be seeing RIM's first touchscreen device, supposedly known as the 9500 Thunder. While details on Thunder have been both hard to come by and seemingly unreliable thus far, online reseller HorizonWireless has already gone and put up a pre-order page complete with a super sketchy blurred-out photo of the new BlackBerry. (UPDATE: The photo has been removed from the HorizonWireless site).
Now take this all with a huge grain of salt given the source, but HW boldly claims they'll have Thunder in stock on Monday August 11 (of this year, ahem), which at least jibes with all the Summer of BlackBerry news that's been coming in. There's no pricing info given, and frankly the photo <strike>they've got</strike> they had up looks more like a badly photoshopped 8700 than anything new and legit. But, hey, there's always this brilliantly worded description (also from HW's site) to tide us over in the meantime:
"The latest member to the Blackberry family - Blackberry Thunder 9500 - called the i-phone killer! Touch screen, 3g ready and more..... Specs coming soon ... Photos will be back soon - we were asked to remove them, sorry"
