As a quick follow-up to an earlier post that ran down a few handsets I'll be on the lookout for in Vegas ... A few more last-minute rumors, leaks, and "spy photos" to keep you tantalized until CTIA actually starts and the Internet is flooded with press releases and hands-on photos from media events and the show floor.

2008 promises to be the year of the touchscreen phone, aka the "iPhone Killer."  AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon all are rumored to have high-end touchscreen devices at the ready, and while it'd be unfair to say they look like iPhone clones, it's impossible to deny the movement towards multimedia-rich, button-poor handsets in the industry.  And, yes, iPhone was first.

A few more phones we're expecting to see make their US debuts in Sin City this week:

LG Vu (AT&T):  Spy shots of Vu have been kicking around the Web for awhile now, and Phone Arena has now leaked what they claim are actual press photos of the two versions of the device said to be launched this week.  The CU 920 will include an antenna for AT&T's Mobile TV service while the CU 915 seems to be the exact same phone minus the TV software and antenna.  A 2" WQCVGA display, 2MP camera with autofocus, and full HTML Web browser backed by 3G data speeds will place this one at the top of AT&T's multimedia lineup.

LG Dare VX9700 (Verizon Wireless):  A photo of the LG Prada-esque VX9700 went up over on HowardForums just a few days ago, and so our eyes will be peeled for it when we hit Verizon's pre-show kickoff party Monday night.  I'm hearing this phone will rock a high-quality 3.2 MP camera to go along with that full-frontal touchscreen, and could be named "Dare" when it launches on VZW.  Between this and the Samsung Glyde - and the mysterious LG VX8560 "Decoy" flip phone - it could be a big show for Verizon.  Again, check HoFo for a photo of Dare.

Also be ready for Motorola's Z9 slider to launch on AT&T come Tuesday.  According to Boy Genius Report, the Z9 will be similar to the V9 (RAZR 2) in terms of features and also sport AT&T Navigator, the location based services application currently known as TeleNav.

And finally there's word that Sprint's long-awaited version of the BlackBerry Curve will debut this week and ship just after tax day. 

Oh, and Sony Ericsson might just be dropping a high-end music phone on us North Americans this week ... Apparently they've got some music-oriented banners already up at the Vegas airport.
