MacWorld San Francisco officially kicked off today, even though the action for consumers doesn't start until Tuesday morning's keynote address where Apple CEO Steve Jobs traditionally launches new products and services. If you'll recall, it was the MWSF keynote last year where Jobs unveiled the iPhone (even though it didn't start shipping until some six months later). While there's lots of talk about a 3G iPhone coming from Apple this year, odds are it won't be released until this Spring - though there's a chance we'll see iPhone's storage capacity raised to 16GB Tuesday morning.
There's news from MSWF for iPhone fans already, though. Google has introduced improvements to their iPhone-optimized Google Apps - this just a month after introducing the iPhone-optimized apps in the first place. Today's announcement includes faster Gmail and Calendar apps, iGoogle gadget access for iPhone, and UI improvements including customization of default tabs.
Google's stuff for iPhone is great, and this should only make it greater. Now if only that 3G iPhone would show up sooner later, access to Google Apps would be even zippier. Google will be showing off their new stuff at MacWorld starting Tuesday, but "the new Google experience" for iPhone is already alive and kicking online.
iPhone users can check out the new stuff by navigating over to Google.com or their full range of mobile products and services available at mobile.google.com.
