Nokia currently holds the number one spot globally, but only manages a 4th place ranking in the US market behind rivals Motorola, Samsung and LG. Nokia announced they want to increase their 11% market share in the U.S. by introducing between 6-12 new handsets this year alone.  The fact we are seeing a few new CDMA Nokia phones showing up on the FCC's website suggests that Nokia has put its squabble with chip maker Qualcomm behind them and are moving towards offering a wider variety of CDMA compatible phones. Undoubtedly this move should increase Nokia's North American market share and make Alltel, Verizon Wireless and Sprint customers very happy in the process.

LG announced it will be making a serious push to do over $13 billion in sales (up from $11B) while simultaneously looking to supplant the number 2 mobile handset manufacturer; Samsung in the process. This may be a tall order especially with Samsung's recent unveiling of the SPH-M800 smartphone heading for Sprint, but who knows maybe LG has one or two surprises left up their sleeve.
