Users of all flavors of Sidekick devices, including the new Slide and LX models, have been having all kinds of trouble using their AOL Instant Messenger application since sometime around Thanksgiving, and all parties involved are now acknowledging the problems. As BoyGenius Report reported Thursday:
"Instant messages are being delayed, sent out of sequence, and in many cases not going through at all. T-Mobile, Danger, and AOL have all acknowledged that the issue exists, but have no projected date of resolution. T-Mobile claims that it's an AOL issue and, as such, won't provide anything in the way of support, answers, or account credits. AOL, in typical fashion, acknowledges the problem but refuses to provide any details about its specifics."
Excellent. No, not really excellent.
T-Mobile is usually known for their excellent customer service, so it's a bit troublesome that they're acknowledging the issues but haven't yet been able to resolve them (even if the problem does lie with AOL or Danger). To be fair, T-Mob had to deal with a big bunch of havoc wreaked upon their Washington state operations center thanks to an extra wet and windy Fall season. So let's hope everyone gets their Sidekick ducks in a row soon and users no longer have to deal with AIM issues, Sidekick Slide issues, or any other problems.
