Electronista reported late Monday that some developers have received early access to Apple's iPhone/iPod Touch software developer kit. In an open letter on the Apple.com website last month, Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced that an SDK would be made available next Feburary, so any developers receiving the kit now would certainly have a leg up on the competition.
Electronista's report states that the "handful of companies" who've gotten their paws within the past two weeks have confirmed that the SDK does indeed produce native programs. The kit is also said to be more limited in scope than developer tools available for Mac's OS X operating system, but broadly enough featured to have already attracted the attention of a "major social networking site."
There's already an iPhone-optimized Facebook site, isn't there?
