Dubbed ?Norton Smartphone Security? is aimed at providing customers with the piece of mind of knowing their data and phone are protected from malicious attacks even when accessing services over an unsecured public Wifi connection. Not only does the mobile version provide the same firewall and anti virus protection found in the popular desktop software, but it also includes an anti-spam filter that stores messages in a separate folder.
As advertising through mobile phones regrettably becomes more common place, the timing of Symantec's mobile security platform will certainly be welcomed amongst many smartphone owners.
The software is currently compatible with Windows Mobile 5/6 and Symbian operating systems at cost of $30 a year which includes all product updates(see list below). McAfee also announced ?VirusScan Mobile?, similar virus protection to Norton's, but at this time it is only compatible with WM 5/6.
