The Firefly seems good in theory; create a phone for a child to make a call by pressing one of the four preset keys. But wait a minute; can't you do that with every phone?

There are several reasons why you should consider giving your child a basic phone instead of the Firefly:

1. Programming the Firefly is difficult for most first timers
2. What happens if you need to use the phone in an emergency? It doesn't have a numeric keypad!
3. Almost every child that is ready for a cell phone is familiar with a standard telephone keypad and understands what the numbers do.
4. You can set any number you wish to speed dial. (#1=911, #2=home and so on)
5. Most new phones have a GPS location feature which allows you or the Police to locate your child in case they are unable to answer the phone.
