After a month of bidding on accumulating license for access to radio spectrum, the government raised over $13.7 billion dollars from numerous wireless carriers. Leading the way was T-Mobile who spent $4.2 billion to win over 120 licenses across the U.S. T-Mobile concentrated on gaining the spectrum in the countries most popular cities, including New York and Los Angeles.
The advanced wireless services spectrum auction, also known as Auction 66, occurred to give wireless carriers access to new spectrum for building next-generation networks.
