When a company releases two variants of a flagship smartphone, one of them is usually crippled in the hardware department. With the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, there are hardly any compromises. You get the same camera sensor, the ability to squeeze the phone to activate the Google Assistant, the same processor, and more.
While you don't get as large of a display or battery with the Pixel 3 as you do with the Pixel 3 XL, we don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. The Pixel 3 is much easier to use with one hand and the display is still plenty big enough to still enjoy consuming media, browsing the web, and playing games. Technically, it has the same display size as an iPhone "Plus" model which, for years, had a display that many considered to be on the large side.
Which smartphone do you prefer: the Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL?
