The LG G4 is now official and it offers several great features that might make you seriously consider this phone over the competition, especially if you’re a die-hard Android fan like I am. I’m going to give you my top five features of the LG G4.

Now let’s talk about the LG G4. It was recently announced and we’ve seen some leaks here and there before the official announcement. But man, I’m impressed with what I’m seeing, at least on paper.

Marco is actually in New York City right now giving you guys some hands-on footage of the LG G4 so if you want to see some hands-on footage of the LG G4, definitely click on the PhoneDog channel right down here to see that footage Marco has posted. It’s definitely worth checking out. But I wanted to get the conversation flowing and just recap some of the best features now that the G4 is officially announced. This list will contain no particular order because all the features are kind of impressive in their own right.

With that said, the first feature we’re talking about and worth mentioning is the Quad HD LCD display. So the LG G4 is actually LG’s first device to feature LG’s new 5.5-inch IPS Quantum display, which actually features a 20% greater color reproduction, a 25% improvement in brightness and 50% improvement on contrast. It’s actually the first Quad HD display panel to employ Advanced In-Cell Touch technology, which actually combines the LCD panel and the touch sensor into one single layer to provide better color reproduction and touch sensitivity.

It is also calibrated for DCI (Digital Cinema Initiative standards), which is used by top Hollywood students. So that's kind of cool but basically it’s absolutely beautiful and LG’s actually claiming it’s better than the Galaxy S6 display. I love that display. If that’s true at all, then I think I’ll be happy.

The LG G4’s also being powered by a blazing fast Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor, which is not quite as capable in terms of multi-tasking as say the 810 octa-core processor by Snapdragon but it’s still very snappy and offers some very nifty energy-saving features, which actually makes it last 20% longer than the LG G3 with the same exact battery capacity.

LG and Qualcomm were actually working together on this processor for several years now, specifically for the G4. So with 3GB of RAM, we can expect it to be equally as fast, in terms of everyday use, as the Snapdragon 810 processor

The hardware of the LG G4 is also improved. First of all, the LG G4 now features hand-crafted, genuine full-grain leather in six beautiful colors. The leather is actually tanned using vegetable oil in a process that takes over three months. And once again, you will have several different color configurations to choose from. But if leather’s not your thing, for whatever reason, the LG G4 back cover will also be available in pure ceramic white with 3D patterns, an artist enforged metallic gray, as well as shiny gold. It’s not metal or glass so it’s technically not as premium but you know, it is leather and so it’s going to be probably more durable and easier to grip than metal or glass so pros and cons.

What I really think is awesome and I think a lot of you guys will agree with me, is that we still have a microSD card slot for expandable storage. We still have a removable battery. And, this time around, we also have a wireless charging built-in. that’s awesome right? And to add to that, the LG G4 will be running Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box with LG’s UX 4.0 software, which is designed to actually be simpler and more intuitive than previous versions to kind of better understand and respond to the needs of each user as there are several new features built into this OS.

We have a vent pocket, which is kind of like an all-in-one calendar app that works with multiple calendar services and even social networking sites. Improved Smart Notice offers more personalized notifications for weather and travel information by analyzing the user, kind of like Google Now. Quick Help, which allows users to search for instant answers to the various questions they might have about their LG G4 right in the Smart Notice widget. And then there are some added camera features like Quick Shot, which allows you to take pictures without ever opening the camera app by tapping on the phone’s rear key, even when the display is off. As well as a new Gallery app, which offers all sorts of new organization methods and it’s more optimized to view more photos at once.

But speaking of the camera, that’s probably my number one favorite feature of the LG G4, as it features a 16MP camera sensor with Optical Image Stabilization as well as an f/1.8 aperture, which actually allows 80% more light to enter the sensor than the LG G3. The OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) is actually improved with the LG G4 to OIS 2.0, which actually expands on the range of Image Stabilization from 1 degree to 2 degrees on the X and Y axis. It also adds a third axis for the very first time apparently, so very impressive stuff here with the LG G4’s camera, at least on paper.

And if that’s not enough, LG has also included an 8MP front-facing camera sensor to capture all sorts of selfies and group shots. This is actually one of the better front-facing camera sensors on any smartphone right now so if you like to take a lot of selfies, then this device may be even more tempting for you.

So overall, the LG G4 is shaping up to be a beast of a smartphone and probably the preferred smartphone for die-hard Android fans as it features a removable battery, a microSD card slot, and the most recent version of Android, that being 5.1. It’s not stock Android but you can always install the Google Now Launcher. The LG G4 is just shaping up to be an all-around great smartphone with improved hardware, software and camera than the LG G3.
