The month of June is coming to an end, meaning we get to reflect on some of the best iOS apps to hit the App Store. We have narrowed it down to 10 applications so without further ado, let’s get started.
Curiosity is a fun app that will hopefully help you learn something. Every day, this app will generate a neat topic for you to read about. The topics range from history and art, to science news and technology advances so this app should appeal to just about everyone. You can read content, watch it, and react to it by liking or saving the facts to share with your friends and family.
Adobe Scan is one of the millions of scanning applications on the App Store but it’s on the list because it does its job well and it’s free. It uses your smartphone’s camera to scan images and turn them into PDFs. You can crop the selection easily, rotate it, and even save your scans to the Cloud to access it anywhere. And because it’s an Adobe app, it plays nicely with Acrobat Reader.
Sega has blessed us with a free version of Sonic the Hedgehog. With advertisements, you can play the classic Sega game on your iPhone. There are two digital joysticks to control Sonic but other than that, it’s just like the classic game full of rings and enemies. You can buy the app without ads for $2 but the option to play for free is super nice.
Unboxed is a very relevant app for our channel that features many familiar faces, many tech experts from YouTube that unboxed the latest tech to help you discover new products you might want to buy. So this app has three main pillars: the first is consumption, you can discover and watch popular unboxing videos; the second is communication, you can ask questions and share your experiences with others who share your same interests; and the third is shopping so after you’re done watching your favorite experts’ video, there will be a link to check out the product on Amazon for example and you can actually buy that product via Apple Pay. It’s a pretty sweet app and it’s very well developed so props to the developers. Everything works very smoothly.
Pulse is a fun app that I thought I’d include for those of you who have trouble sleeping. It uses military technique to supposedly allow you to fall asleep in 60 seconds. Basically, it involves three reps of taking deep breaths and exhaling. There’s some science behind this, of course. I think once you use this app for a few days or weeks, you can eventually not have to rely on this app every time you go to bed. But if you have trouble sleeping, you might want to give this app a look.
Angry Birds Evolution is the latest Angry Birds game featuring all new birds, levels, and power ups. This app is a must-have for Angry Birds fans. The company has become absolutely huge over the years and an Angry Birds movie was even made. That’s how you know your application is a success if it warrants a Hollywood movie. There’s not much I can really say besides it’s Angry Birds, check it out if you like Angry Birds.
Now, I don’t know about you but I’m not the best public speaker. I’m more comfortable talking in front of a camera or behind a microphone. Not too much in front of a large group of people. Pubspek is an app designed to help you more comfortable at public speaking. It will give you feedback on how you present and will pinpoint core issues related to public speaking. It’ll tell you what emotions you might be lacking and it’ll actually use your selfie camera so you can view yourself while you’re speaking to ultimately help you improve your skills.
Taskful smart to-do list is one of my favorite new to-do list applications since you can create smart tasks, track your steps, create group tasks and create a reward system so that you have more of an incentive to accomplish your goals. The cherry on top is a dark mode and spiffy animations that make navigating this app all the more enjoyable. The only major con I see is the fact that it costs $2.
Background is an app that sources beautiful photos from Unsplash. The layout is incredibly user-friendly. All you have to do is scroll down to see images. If you find what you like, you touch and hold it to save it as a wallpaper. All of the images are under a Creative Commons Zero License 2 which means you can copy, modify, distribute, and use the photos for free including for commercial purposes without asking for permission. So it’s beautiful.
The last app we have for you today is called Fowlst. It’s a really fun game from an independent developer. It’s an action game about an owl who is trapped in hell for some reason. You have to make your way through chamber after smokey chamber, smashing demons and grabbing loot, dodge bullets, battle huge bosses and try not to get chopped in half by a buzzsaw. There are power ups that help make this game all the more stimulating. It’s super random but it’s really fun and I love the simple graphics.
With that last one, those are 10 of our favorite iOS apps to hit the App Store during the month of June 2017.
