We have compiled ten of our favorite apps to hit the Play Store during the month of March 2018. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the first app.
The first app on our list is a little game called PUBG Mobile, which is certainly the most popular app to be released this month. The game is dead simple, which is largely why it is so popular. You, along with a hundred other online players, start by parachuting onto a remote island and battle it out to see who becomes the last man standing. Players have to locate and scavenge their own weapons, vehicles, and supplies and defeat every player on the island. The difficulty progresses the longer you’re on the island, the smaller the playzone becomes.
The app uses Unreal Engine 4 for graphics. And while it’s not certainly as good looking as the PC version, it’s certainly playable and enjoyable in my opinion. It’s nice not having to be tethered to a console or PC. The game is free. I recommend that you give it a try.
Sip Stories is an app that delivers tech news and stories at a tap. The idea is that it sends you notifications when a breaking story happens but you can also open the app and explore previous stories like a traditional news app. What’s different with Sip is that its layout is kind of like a Snapchat story. You tap on the right hand side to go to the next slide of the info. Sometimes there’s an embedded tweet, other times it’s a photo or GIF. If you like tech news, you should look into Sip Stories.
And while on the topic of stories, another app you might enjoy is Stories Timeline Diary. So there’s a million different diary apps on the Play Store. What I like about this app is its timeline design so you can relive your memories in order. The app will track your moods and allow you to attach various information, whether that’s people, weather conditions, events-- it’s up to you. It supports hashtags and mentions and security locks, like PINs and fingerprints.
The app is still in development but I think it’s already extremely feature packed.
Jungle Monkey Run 2 is a simple game where you play as a monkey and collect bananas and power-ups all while trying to dodge pits and enemies. It reminds me a lot of Donkey Kong and carries some serious nostalgia. You can jump, sprint, glide, and there are a ton of levels and challenges to keep this game fun for a long time.
Textto is a really neat app that lets you send and receive SMS, picture, and group messages from your computer. It takes like 30 seconds to set up and it works with Windows, MacOS, and Linux. Best of all, it’s free.
Readably is a beautifully simple RSS reader. The layout is simple and functional, allowing you to easily search for a site to subscribe to. And what’s more is you can tag each source so that you can find specific stories for the topics you’re interested in like technology or science.
My biggest gripe is that it costs $5 but I think it’s absolutely worth it if you’re a news junkie.
Vimage is an unreleased app that’s still in development but it shows a ton of promise. The app lets you make cinemagraphs out of still photos that are already in your library. It offers you a selection of animated overlays that you can apply to your photos. That includes dust effects, rain effects, smoke effects. It’s free so feel free to give this app a shot.
Next we have The Sims Mobile and it needs very little introduction. It’s a mobile version of the popular PC game, SIMS, where you customize a character and live out its life by pursuing career goals, hobbies, relationships, and so forth. The developers did a good job here. There are some in-app purchases but other than that, there are little costs associated with this game.
Beacon: Real-Time Location Sharing lets you share your location with your family and friends whenever you want. Personally, I like to use it when I go hiking so people know where I am. Some of the features include automated alerts that are sent when you’re not moving. There’s also a battery management feature that does what the name implies. It keeps the app functional without draining too much battery.
The last app on the list is Edge Action and it brings the edge screen feature found on many curved Galaxy smartphones to any smartphone. With one hand, you’ll be able to switch between apps, favorite people, quick tools, and music players from any screen. It’s remarkably similar to Samsung’s native app. I highly recommend it.
