Sony's growing line of compact interchangeable lens cameras are becoming more and more popular in our world. They are taking mirrorless cameras to a whole new age of image quality, performance, and price. So here is Sony's latest entry into their NEX line, the 5T. It basically sits in the dead middle between the NEX 3 and flagship NEX 7. It features the same 16.1-megapixel APS-C Sensor but adds Wi-Fi and more manual mode dials. It also sports a three-inch capacitive touch screen.
It features 1080p 60p recording in the AVCHD format. Video quality is impressively smooth without any hiccups. Detail is fine but did pick up the occasional moire here and there. Artifacts were surprisingly good too. It's not full frame so don't expect the best quality video in town but it will replace many of prosumer video cameras.
For a little under $600, you get the camera and this nifty 16-50mm power zoom lens. It's exactly what you need to start out and the NEX line has grown up so much that good glass is now available and if you already shoot with Sony glass there's an adapter for you to attach Alpha lenses!
