The Samsung Galaxy S6 is around the corner. Here's what you need to know. The Galaxy S6 will feature a 5-inch QuadHD Super AMOLED Display, an Octa-Core Processor, 3GB of RAM, a 20-megapixel Camera with OIS and last but not least Android 5.0 Lollipop with a lightened version of Samsung's TouchWiz User Interface.

Mobile World Congress is just a few weeks away, which means the Samsung Galaxy S6 is just a few weeks away. We’re excited for the release of this device because it’s going to be the best biggest change to the Galaxy S line in its entirety and we’re looking forward to being able to play with it at Mobile World Congress.
Here’s what you should be expecting from the brand new Samsung Galaxy S6:
First things first, we have to look back at the Samsung Galaxy S5. In my opinion, it wasn’t Samsung’s finest moments because I never liked this golf ball material design that they used. It kind of looks a little weird since it still uses plastic chrome stuff. Definitely, it wasn’t the best Samsung phone ever and it was quickly overshadowed by the HTC One M8, the LG G3, and the OnePlus One. The OnePlus One basically gave the same specs for half the price.
Display
With the Galaxy S6 coming, we’re probably gonna see the biggest changes to the Galaxy S line we’ve ever seen starting off with the size and build quality. One thing the Galaxy S5 had was a 5.1-inch 1080p display and the Galaxy S6 is looking to shrink that screen size to 5 inches even and also adding 2560x1440 display panels. People shouldn’t be angry because of the smaller screen. I’m completely fine with a 5-inch display, I think it’s a sweet spot for an Android phone with QuadHD display. Honestly, I’d still be fine with 1080p display but then people would say “there’s no progress there.” So QuadHD it is.
Design
Design is always gonna be a very big portion of the brand new Galaxy S6. One thing that I know for sure is that it’s going to be in line with the Galaxy Note 4 design, in terms of its metal sides and chamfered edges. It’s going to be a very good looking phone and will be available in Charcoal Gray, White, and Silver. Maybe even Pink and Gold. They just have tons of colors that they’ll be able to make. And I think it’s going to be one of the best looking phones that we’re going to see in 2015. Secondly, it’s going to be thinner at 7.4 to 7.6mm, making it a whole lot thinner than the chunky plastic Galaxy S5.
Name
Another thing that Samsung may do is introduce a new Galaxy S6 called maybe as the Galaxy S Edge or Galaxy S6 Edge, some phone that has an Edge because the press release showed that it’s going to be something with an edge. So they’re probably gonna be bringing that Edge technology to the Galaxy S6. That will probably be cool since they’re trying to push that market in terms of flexible and curved displays. It should be a very interesting thing. I’m wondering what they’re going to call it.
Hardware
At first, I expected the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 to be available on the Galaxy S6 because that’s what every flagship device will probably have for the rest of 2015. But since there are some rumors about the 810 processor overheating along with another rumor that a major partner pulled out of the Snapdragon eco-system because of the overheating issue. The word on the street is that it could be Samsung. I still doubt it because honestly Snapdragons are the processors and I think they’ll fix that overheating issue in software.
Now if Samsung doesn’t choose to go with the Snapdragon 810 processor, they’re probably gonna go with the Exynos 7420 processor, which is also an octa-core configuration by Samsung. I’m not exactly sure it will ever make it to the US shores, while it’s definitely gonna be available in international markets especially Korea. But I still bet on the Snapdragon 810 processor. Whichever processor Samsung chooses, it’s gonna be paired up with 3GB of RAM and the Adreno 430 GPU.
Camera
The Galaxy S5 had a 16MP camera that took amazingly beautiful shots and also 4K video. The Galaxy Note 4 had the same 16MP camera, OIS and took beautiful 4K videos. The new Galaxy S6 will probably have a 20MP camera coming in close with the Xperia Z3 and Z4, which will most likely also be announced at Mobile World Congress. But it will probably have OIS, 4K video and an amazing photo quality just like a lot of Samsung phones do now. OIS is definitely going to be a big step up for the Samsung Galaxy S line, along with 20MP. If they make the resolution in detail really good, then I’ll be absolutely sold.
Software
The software is probably going to be the biggest piece to the Galaxy S6’s success. We’re probably talking about Android 5.0 Lollipop, which is almost guaranteed at this point. But will they have TouchWiz or not? My bet is that TouchWiz is going to be there and it’s going to be a lightened version of TouchWiz, more in line with an Android Lollipop experience but it’s still going to be far from the Nexus 6, Moto X, Moto G, or anything running stock Android 5.0 Lollipop. But it’s definitely going to be an interesting thing to see if they actually dialed down on the features of TouchWiz compared to the packed Android 4.4 KitKat version.
Hopefully we’ll see some simplification in terms of menus, especially with the camera menus. I don’t want to be hitting 8 buttons to go to the settings. I definitely want a dialed down, simplified version of Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Galaxy S6.
