Hands-on with the Blue Coral Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Despite the unfortunate events surrounding the Note 7 and its battery, the Galaxy Note 7 is one of the most beautiful smartphones we've ever laid eyes on. Which smartphone do you find the most elegant?
In this video, we’re going to be talking about the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in coral blue. This is one of the most attractive smartphones I’ve ever used, I’ve ever laid eyes on. With its curves, reflective glass, and metal, I think the Note 7 would win the “Pinnacle of Design” award; if ever there was such a thing.
It’s not often we upload two Galaxy Note 7 hands-on videos. But given the new coral blue color option of the Galaxy Note 7, we think it’s justified.
If we take a step back and analyze the build of the Note 7, we’ll see that it’s not too much different than the past few Samsung flagships. Both the front and rear of the device feature curved glass and I argued that the curves between the metal frame and the glass, front and back are more subtle than ever before. It’s crazy. You can hardly notice the separation of the materials glass and metal. It feels a lot like the iPhone 7 or 7 Plus; a comparison and I’m hesitant to make. The bottom line is that it’s incredibly comfortable. What separates it from say the iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, in terms of how it feels on the hand is the build materials.
The glass on the rear of the phone is smooth and slippery with a dash of sliminess. You’re going to want to seriously consider adding a case or wrap to this device, and that’s coming from somebody who very, very rarely uses a case or wrap on their smartphones.
What is new to the build this year is the curved display so previously, Samsung launched two separate Note-like devices, one with a large curved display and another with a flat 2D display with a stylus. This year, Samsung has released one Note device and it features the best of both worlds—a curved display and a stylus. You combine that curved glass and metal with a blue color configuration that refracts light and you’ll be shocked with how it looks. What’s neat is that depending on lighting conditions of your environment, the phone will look completely different so in indoor environment, coral blue becomes more of a dark blue or teal. But when in direct sunlight, it is bright like turquoise. What you won’t see here in these shots are all the fingerprint marks on the rear of the phone. I’ve wiped them all off for aesthetic purposes but the Galaxy Note 7 is a fingerprint and smudge magnet, which definitely tarnishes its appearance.
What’s also impressive with the build is the fact that it features a stylus; which takes a quite bit of room. Given the specifications, it’s surprising. Samsung was able to pack everything inside, all while providing room for a stylus. Also, the device is water-resistant out of the box. You can submerge it in up to 5 feet of water for up to 30 minutes and it’ll be just fine. Pretty crazy, considering there’s a stylus and a pretty deep tunnel running through the center of the phone.
