Whether you’re a fan of the big phones or a person who completely despises the term phablet, you can’t deny that 2014 has been the year of the big phones. Two examples of that is the brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which is not so new to the idea of the big phone; and the new kid on the block, the Apple iPhone 6 Plus, probably the most unexpected phone to finally agree that bigger could sometimes mean better model. So how do these two get along? Well, let’s find out in this comparison of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the iPhone 6 Plus.
So I can finally compare an iPhone and a Note device and not make them look like father and son. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the iPhone 6 Plus have a lot of common characteristics. They are both large, flat slabs of beautiful-looking displays. But they approach their beauty from two completely different angles. The iPhone 6 Plus is built entirely out of aluminum and glass while the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has a bundle of materials including magnesium aluminum alloy that surrounds the entire sides. But you’ll also find a lot of plastic and faux leather on the back, which hearkens back to the old Samsung, which I’m trying to forget.
But taking a look at these two and they both have their distinct beauty. Their sizes are awfully similar but clearly, the iPhone 6 Plus is the larger device. The iPhone 6 Plus measures in at 6.22 inches tall, 3.06 inches wide, and 7.1mm thick. While the Galaxy Note 4 comes in at 6.04 inches tall, 3.09 inches wide, and 8.5mm thick. Both of these are quite massive devices. But screen sizes are completely strange. You would expect the iPhone 6 Plus to have the larger display because it’s a taller device but that’s not true. The iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5-inch full HD 1080p IPS LCD display and the Galaxy Note 4, the shorter device, has a larger 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display.
Hardware is a sad story for the iPhone 6 Plus. While the Galaxy Note 4 is packed with the latest and greatest, the iPhone 6 Plus takes the general better route. The Galaxy Note 4 has a 2.7GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 805 chip, 3GB of RAM, and the Adreno 420 chipset. The iPhone 6 Plus has a 1.4GHz Dual-Core A8 processor and M8 motion co-processor and 1GB of RAM. Software is pretty irrelevant to compare at this time because the iPhone 6 Plus runs iOS 8, the Galaxy Note 4 runs Android with TouchWiz; then I think you’re absolutely golden with knowing the software.
The last feature I want to touch on is the battery sizes. The iPhone 6 Plus is equipped with a 2915mAh battery and the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is equipped with a 3220mAh battery.
