This is the next evolution of smartphones-- or so Nextbit claims. Inside this beautiful wooden box is the new Nextbit Robin, the phone that will never run out of storage. It's also the first smartphone I've seen in a while that doesn't share any traits with other smartphones in the design department. And this, for once, is a completely refreshing and new experience for me.

Once you lift up the wooden ledge, there sits a pull up tab saying “Defy Limits.” Inside, the Robin and its partner logo figurine are sitting proud. And right away, you could tell that the Robin is not your ordinary looking smartphone. The edges are squared, the phone doesn't use aluminum or steel in its construction. It's an entirely different approach to building a smartphone.

Further inside the box, you'll find the charger and two cases of the Robin which look and feel really cool. Though the most important part in obviously the phone: spec-wise, it's packed. Starting off with a 5.2-inch 1080p IPS LCD panel on the front. And when I first booted it up, it looked outstanding. The colors are vibrant, bright and very accurate.

Internally, it's a spec monster. Starting off with a 6-core Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of built-in storage. There is no microSD card slot. However, that's what Nextbit intended for. The Robin comes with 100GB of online cloud storage and it's basically the reason why Robin is so impressive. Unlike other cloud services where you have to manually move things over, Robin automatically places things you don't frequently use on the cloud and off of your phone. And when in need, touch the grayed down icon and in seconds, it's ready for you and it's back to being stored locally on the Robin.

Camera-wise, the Robin has a 13MP rear-facing camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, and thankfully we have dual front-facing stereo speakers, which sound fabulous. And lastly, on the lock button lives a fingerprint sensor.

Software-wise, it's running Android 6.0 Marshmallow. And while I can't quite comment about the performance yet, I can say I'm definitely liking the Robin experience a lot. The Nextbit Robin is a really interesting phone. And at $399 on its normal retail price, it's a crazy good deal.
