Welcome to the Monday Moan, the weekly feature in which Cam musters all his British cynicism and strength to complain about the state of the mobile phone industry. This week, it's the iPhone. The device he's spent the last 4 years writing about may have revolutionized the mobile phone market, but with it came the demise of the weird, wonderful and entertaining hardware shapes and sizes. We had "lipstick", "jack-knife", flip phones, slide-up phones, phones that looked like jewelry or even make-up mirrors. After the iPhone, everything started to look the same, and that's a real shame. All we have is rectangles with slightly different specs. Design has shifted from hardware and mechanisms to the software, and the rear shell. The Golden Era of hardware design is behind us. And that's sad.
