This is the Apple iPhone SE, basically a rebranded iPhone 5S with the guts of an iPhone 6S. Now we can debate whether this phone is really needed or not but first, let's go ahead and give it an unboxing.
So when you compare the boxes to an iPhone 6 and maybe an iPhone 6S Plus box, you can see that the iPhone SE is coming in at a much smaller size with the same screen size as the iPhone 5 at 4 inches. Though inside the box, you basically get your typical Apple affair-- an iPhone, some cables, your EarPods, charging cables, some manuals and then obviously your Apple stickers. Though one thing that is really interesting is the iPhone SE does come in Rose Gold.
It's really odd to hold an iPhone this small just because I've been so used to using an iPhone 6 and 6S Plus. And it just seems almost silly to go back to this iPhone size of 4-inch display. But Apple claims that people like the smaller size so they decided to make the most powerful 4-inch smartphone. I'm not exactly sure how true that statement is or really if this phone is necessary just because this launch seems really underhyped.
The iPhone SE basically has the same specs found on the Apple iPhone 6S, basically the A9 processor, the same 2GB of RAM, obviously a smaller battery but it does carryover the same camera-- the 12MP 4K camera with no camera hump on this one, and it also has Touch ID. The only thing that's not included from the iPhone 6S is 3D Touch.
The iPhone SE is available in two size configurations-- a 16GB model for $399 or a 64GB model at $499. And while it's not exactly the cheapest iPhone you can buy, it's definitely a better option if you just want to have the same power as an iPhone 6S but not quite spend $649 for a 16GB base iPhone 6S.
