The good: Good signal, good plans, nice phones.
The bad: Texting is way more expensive than any other company
Summary: I like alltel. It is one of the few companies that i have a good signal at my house. We have a good plan for a good price. BUT the texting is so much more expensive than all the other companies. What you pay for 300 , you could get unlimited elsewhere. It is rediculous. For unlimited it is a whoping 20 bucks. That is outragious.
The good: Small size, durability, bluetooth
The bad: Battery life
Summary: I've been a long-time Verizon customer (since the days of 15-minutes-per-month plans and phones that didn't come close to fitting in your pocket), so I've unfortunately been at the whim of Verizon's less-than-stellar selection of phones. I started off with a few Motorolas, but once I got the LG VX6000, I was hooked on the LG quality, styling, and durability (I drop my phones - a lot!).

In moving forward from the Motorola to the VX6000, and then the VX6000 to the VX8000, I consistently noticed my battery life doubling, at the very least. Whereas older phones needed to be constantly charged, I found that by the time I was on the VX8000, I could go several days without charging the phone, even while using a few hours of talk time. So, when I stepped up to the VX8600, I was expecting the same improvement. This time, I was proven wrong. Battery life has actually worsened!

The most irritating issue that I have found with the VX8600 is how quickly it goes from "3 bars" of battery to dead, even without using any talk time. For an LG veteran, I found this surprising, as I usually didn't even worry about charging my phone until it was down to that last bar. With this phone, after even two hours of talking, you're down to 2 bars of battery. That 2 bars of battery would have lasted a few days on standby with older LG's. Now, I'm lucky if I make it through a day without my phone turning off on me.

Battery irritation aside (and as I've been told by friends who work in the cell phone business, you don't buy a small flip phone if you're concerned about battery life), everything else about this phone is great. It is by far the most stylish phone I've ever seen from Verizon. It's sturdier than the RAZR's, as evidenced by my scientific research (ok, fine, I may have dropped this phone three or four times already, and have had no issues.)

This is also the first Verizon phone I've seen that did not have the Bluetooth functionality crippled. What this means is that you can download the BitPim software from http://www.bitpim.org/ and, if your PC or laptop is Bluetooth enabled, you can transfer your contacts (and possibly your photos and videos, though I have yet to test this) all wirelessly. So, when you experience that fateful phone-drop into a puddle, at least you don't lose your contacts..

Call quality has been excellent, and the camera is acceptable, although newer phones tend to sport resolutions greater than the 1.3 megapixels that this phone offers.

Overall, I'm quite happy with this phone - just make sure to keep it charged!

Robert H. The good: Simple, easy, plenty of features for a basic phone. Great speaker and LOUD ring tones. Even with my big hands it's easy to handle.
The bad: Clarity isn't all that great. But I suppose lack of antenna doesn't help either.
Summary: I wanted something basic and simple. I wanted a phone that had a speaker and ring tones with some VOLUME since I am hearing impaired. I was surprised at the features packed into a stylish phone.
The good: It lets me not roam where without the amplifier it would roam. Provides about 95% 4 bar signal strength all the time.
The bad: You have to buy the amp and connect to the phone.
Summary: I live in Wyoming and out here the cell towers are few and far in between. So I purchased the motorola amplifier for it. Back about 4 years ago it cost around $250-300 for the thing. I mounted the amp in a rectangular ammo can. I did this to make it portable. I added a switch to turn off the power to the amp. I also added two automobile cigarette power outlets. This allows for the cell phone to be powered by an automobile power charging cable. (At least you know the phone has full power and is being charged and ready to go when you can't use the amp. I use a magnetic mount antenna and put it on the roof of the vehicle. I run the antenna cable so as to provide a path where it will not get smashed. This is the best setup I have ever had. So when I am on the road I have no problems making calls even in between towns out here in Wyoming. I have owned other Motorola models but all were the same peanut type style which allowed for the amplifier to be used by all of models I have gone through. I am currently using for the Trac prepaid system.
The good: Thin, sexy, large screen, very similar to my blackberry in button layout, usb-mini sync/charge port, voice recognition is good, speaker is good (callers can hear me an i can hear them.) Holds 2gb mini-sd. Battery lasts with the righ preparation of powermanagement
The bad: adding new contact from unknown number, cant press letter to go to similar lettered entries if just adding to existing contact, silver buttin is not a joystick, though that would be nice, No MMS is available yet.
Summary: This phone is more like a business extension device then a phone. It has web, mobile outlook which is easily synced with MS.Exchange (very handy for smb users and entrepreneurs). The device is a good looking device, balances well in the hand for great one-handed action (texting, short email replies, etc ...) the only things that its missing is wireless (802.11) and MMS capabilities, although that might be a consequence of the providers not enabling the MMS feature. Beyond that its a very business friendly device and well recommended. There are a few tips to extend the battery ( turn beaming off, set displays to turn down after 10 sec, and dim the screen with utility caled candlelight, and youll love your phone battery life like me.
The good: Excellent battery life, I get 2 to 3 days out of every charge. I once lost the phone, found it 6 days later, and the phone was still on and made more calls before the battery went out.

The voice quality is good for such a small phone. The speakerphone is loud and the quality is outstanding with the Nokia stereo headset. The built in speaker and FM radio is impressive and easy to use.
The bad: Almost too small, I often lost track of it before I got a black case for it.
Summary: I got this phone after my KX12 got run over by a jeep. I paid full retail for it and it was worth every penny. It was great by itself, but add a case, headset, and data cable and it's unbeatable.
The good: great service and cost
The bad: horrible plans and rates
Summary: when i first got cingular wireless i loved it except for the fact that the minites were too high and just didnt last long enough . some of the pros of cingular is that they have great customer service and if anything goes wrong wiith your phone they're thier to fix it.plus the phones are cheap and reliable
The good: IF you keep your camera lens clear of prints, it'll take awesome clear shots. Send it to your email and you'll see how clear the pics are.
The bad: gets dirty fast, and annoying nascar sounds.
Summary: Over all this is a great phone. Sucks it doesnt have video. its a good phone better reception than my last LG i had. Im a txt user and Im gettnig used to the ABC's than the Qwerty pad.
The good: Good music, style, size, and cuteness
The bad: bluetooth be wildin',slow downloads, and pictures could be better
Summary: The phone is cute and it works pretty well.I love it even though i paid an arm and a leg.
The good: the reception is good..the customer service is good but can be better.
The bad: they charge alot for little things
Summary: i've been with cingular for a a year and its a good service...but always room for improvement..
The good: .great reception
.nice speaker
.very fast phone
.mp3 player
.cool camera
.record videos and playback
.classic look to it
The bad: .a wee bit bulky
Summary: i've had this phone for 6 months and this phone is amazing...its packed with all sorts of features..i've been through many cell phones but this cell phone is hands down the best i've ever had
The good: Sync'ing with Outlook; ease of use; camera/video; speaker phone; alarm; customizable Go To menu for most often used items.
The bad: No longer top of the line. Old version doesn't support Bluetooth, but the newer version does.
Summary: I bought this phone before it was revamped for Bluetooth and before the new Razor and all that jazz.

It's a solid phone and I'm still very happy with it. The camera takes about average pics, as far as camera phones go, but I find this one very easy to use.

I also love Nokia's PC Suite that you can download for free. It allows you to sync your phone with the Contacts in Outlook, which makes switching over to this phone a breeze if you are an Outlook user.

The ability to customize the quick Go To menu has saved me a lot of time, as all the items I use over and over again are just right there. I don't have to dig through the menu for them. I put my Silent and Normal profile there, as well as Infared mode for sync'ing and the Alarm Clock, which I now use all the time.

So, battery and antenna power? I'd rank them around average / expected. The battery lasts a lot longer than my last phone, which was horrible. The antenna power is pretty decent, but who couldn't use more?

My only regret is having the older version of 6101 and not being able to use those cool Bluetooth headphones. There is a more recent version of 6101 that does support Bluetooth.
The good: low prices & GREAT coverage.
The bad: not that many new phones.
Summary: i`ve been with alltel for the past 2 years or so & it`s been greatt. i`ve had coverage everywhere! even at my school which is supposed to block cellphone signals. i`m so glad for my service. my friends have different phone companies but alltel works great for me!
The good: Thin & Phat all at the same time -
It'd cut like a knife through butta
The bad: Sucks the life outta the battery -
it's a little wobbly like a booble head on it's hinge after a year
Summary: Vowels are great on Wheel of Fortune - but Motorola struck it rich by leaving them out of the RAZR. The rest of the line just doesn't have the same panache as the original.

This is a great little phone, thin light and totally phat. The keys are great for playing usa today sudoku to my heart's content and the display is great for searching for my favorite wildkittens scores on yahoo.

Really, to tell you the truth. I like it, but I'm looking to replace it with the U740 and it's full keyboard action. I donno about the small number keys tho, bro.
The good: Slim, light weight, dependable, clear sounds, love the voice activated features
The bad: key pad started to deteriorate after about 2 1/2 years of use. At time battery ran out too quickly.
Summary: Love using the phone, saved my life several time from traffic accident and home burgery.
The good: Great look, Love the push button open feature. Like the option of additional memory feature
The bad: phone resets itself when trying to e-mail a picture??? alot of ringtones rings distorted.
Summary: Overall this is the best phone that I have had. The looks of the phone, the convience of push button open. I like to the built in antenna, so I don't worry about breaking it off, like I have done on several other phones. With a memory card, it will hold more songs than you need, or over 1000 pictures. Great Phone!!!
The good: great features and battery
The bad: no real shut and front speaker sux
Summary: when I bought my fusic I was pretty happy but about 4 months down the road all the sudden stuff started going wrong front speaker and ringer not working but for about 4 months great phone
The good: cool color scheme, good camera & video, very durable
The bad: buttons on the faceplate were useless without v-cast
Summary: I got this phone with a new service plan and I really dont have any complaints about it. it is very easy to use the cameras work really well and the voice quality had no real problems. the only thing that has been a hinderance is sometimes as the phone ages the battery life doesn't last as long as it used to. but after two years you would expect that from a cell phone battery.
The good: the phone is light, it is very user friendly, conveinent mp3 controls on the front, very clean camera photos, sound is loud, works well with bluetooth headset, very durable
The bad: speakers aren't very clear, volume button sometimes gets in the way.
Summary: I have had this phone for just over a year now and i must say that it was a good choice. It has fallen with me many times and still keeps on goin. i have never needed to service it or replace any parts. The battery life is jus as good as it always was and the reception sound is very good. Also the person on the other end hears clearly what i am saying. I am especailly pleased with the outside controls for the mp3 functions, they make things alot easier for me. The camera takes such good photos that there is no need for any computer editing of the photos. It is very light and easy to carry and the buttons respond well. The only reson i would think of switching this phone is because i am always interested in tryin something new. I was shocked to hear that they are no longer produced.
The good: very user friendly phone
The bad: the display stopped working after 7 months. It's still under warranty but it makes me wonder about the long term durability.
Summary: It has been a good phone and I would recommend it to others as a good basic phone.
