The iPhone X is a major redesign for Apple's flagship smartphone, and according to a new report, the iPad will soon get a redesign of its own.

Apple is working on a refreshed iPad that features a new design, according to sources speaking to Bloomberg. This is expected to be a high-end iPad model with slimmer bezels and a screen size similar to the 10.5-inch iPad Pro. It's said that this new iPad could ditch the home button, just like the iPhone X, and adopt Face ID for unlocking it.

This new iPad will also reportedly have a faster processor and custom Apple GPU.

A new version of the Apple Pencil is said to be in the works, too, complete with new software for using the stylus with the iPad.

One feature that's not expected to be included with this new iPad is an OLED display. The iPhone X comes with an OLED screen, but it's said that the iPad is unlikely to adopt this feature because of technical and financial constraints.

This new high-end iPad could make its debut as early as 2018. However, there's no word on how much the device could cost.

Nothing is official until Apple says it is, but many of the features included in today's rumor would make sense for a new iPad. Apple has created a new A11 Bionic processor for the iPhone 8 and iPhone X, and so it wouldn't be a surprise to see it make its way into new iPad hardware, too. Face ID could make sense, too, as it would help give Apple's mobile devices a sense of cohesion. And while an iPad with an OLED screen would be nice, such a device would likely be very expensive.
