Best Tech of the Month is back and it’s better than ever. We have put together a handful of tech products that we have had the pleasure of testing over the last 30 days or so. Before we get started, I do want to thank MEEM Memory for sponsoring this video.
MEEM has a charging cable that is unlike anything that I have ever seen before. The cable not only delivers 2.8 amps of fast charging power but it lets you backup any smartphone or tablet onto the cable itself. The cable itself features up to 128GB of internal storage and it can back up to three devices. This setup eliminates cloud subscription fees and costs associated with other storage solutions. The accompanying app will let you view and manage all of the data that is on your cable. The cable even comes with the MEEM network and desktop app, which allows you to backup and share data between up to three devices to the MEEM cable. It works with all the major operating systems and will let you have a secondary backup of all your info as well as access to your backed up data from your computer.
From a technology standpoint, it’s pretty neat to consider this cable is packing a mini processor with 1GB of RAM and tons of flash storage. The MEEM cable starts at $60 for the 32GB variant and works with iOS and Android. It also has a one year international warranty.
The first product I want to show you is my NutSac. No, no! Not that nut sack. This is the Sac Daddy 15-inch Laptop Bag that is from a company called NutSac. They make high quality Satchel bags with a lifetime guarantee. This bag in particular can hold a 15-inch laptop comfortably. It has an open back magazine pocket, a padded back panel and a leather shoulder pad for comfort. I think it’s rustic and classy as it is composed of heavy duty Martexin American-waxed canvas and full grain leather. Yet it features some very functional components. For example, in addition to looking really stylish, we have flap magnets that keep the flaps from flapping around and a leather strap that helps keep the contents of the bag securely fastened in place. I’ve been using this bag around town with my 15-inch MacBook Pro and I have enjoyed every second of it. I feel really stylish walking around with this thing. You can choose from a brown and black color option, both of which retail for $214.
The next product we have to show you today is from Promise Technology. It’s called the Apollo Cloud 2 Duo and it’s one of the newest Cloud storage devices on the market. Here’s a rundown of what it is: it’s an 8TB hard drive that connects to your router so you can access all of your files anywhere in the world. The Cloud 2 Duo comes in a sleek, compact white housing that should blend in with just about any decor you might have in your home. After you plug it into your router and set it up, you can download the apps for iOS, Android, Mac, or Windows to access all of your files.
The speed of file transfers really comes down to how fast your internet is. And as for security, it’s much safer than Cloud storage options where your data is actually stored on a remote server somewhere in the world. In this case, the server is stored on a local device that is connected to your home Wi-Fi so you know exactly where it’s at. There’s also no monthly fees which are generally expected when dealing with remote servers. One of my only complaints is that it is pretty pricey, coming in at $449 but you do get 8TB of storage, which can be connected to the internet and accessed just about anywhere.
Within the last couple of months, JayBird has released a couple of different wireless audio products. These are the Freedom 2 Wireless Earbuds so unlike the AirPods, these have one wire that will rest most likely behind your neck. This does help mitigate the fear of losing an earbud. You also get a control module with a mic and buttons to skip songs and increase/decrease volume. There’s a charging clip that can attach to this module and add an additional four hours of music playback time to the already four hours of playback available on the buds.
What I like about these things is that the earbuds themselves are really thin. They are comfortable and the ear fins keep these things securely fastened in my ears. It’s no secret I’ve been a fan of the original Freedom buds as well as the BlueBuds X headphones and these, while similar to the previous model, are the most comfortable buds JayBird offers in my opinion. The sound quality is not gonna be as pristine as wired earphones with a similar price tag but I think they sound really good and the bass is very noticeable. You can also use the JayBird MySound app to customize the sound and adjust the lows, mids and highs to your liking and create the most enjoyable listening experience for you.
They come in a multitude of colors and cost anywhere from $130 to $150.
The Pixel 2 XL is certainly the most expensive item on the list since it’s one of the newest flagship Android smartphones to hit the market. While I’m still working on my full review, it’s definitely one of my favorite tech products released this month. It runs Android 8.0 Oreo, the latest and the most sophisticated version of Android in the market and it has the hardware to help this phone compete or in some cases outcompete the other flagships.
The 12-megapixel camera is incredible and there’s now waterproofing and dual front-facing stereo speakers this time around.
The Spark SL Condenser Microphone from Blue Microphones has made the list. This microphone is catered to gamers, podcasters or YouTubers who are ready to upgrade their home recording or streaming setup to a full broadcast studio level. This microphone features a professional XLR connection that works well with USB interfaces and mixers. The sound quality is also really good.
Blue is the company behind the Yeti and Snowball, which are two of the most popular mics used for YouTubers or streamers. The Blackout Spark microphone can record even higher quality audio. It costs $200 and comes in this nice black finish.

Last but not least, if you’re in the market for true wireless earbuds that literally have no wires and resemble Apple’s AirPods, you should look into the JAM Ultra Wireless Earbuds. These buds are small and stealthy yet they are sweat-resistant and have surprisingly good sound quality. For the size of these buds, I wasn’t really expecting much but they have no distortion when listening to heavy bass music and they have pretty solid mids and highs.
Other things to note include a microphone for making calls and a three-hour battery life with a charging case included for easy portability. Best of all, they’re almost half the price of the AirPods’ price at about $100.
