After launching Facebook Live Video streaming for all iPhone and Android users earlier this year, Facebook is now doubling down on video with Instant Video for Messenger.
With Instant Video, Facebook Messenger users can quickly share real-time video with the person that they’re chatting with. Simply tap the video icon in the upper right corner of your display and you’ll start sharing video. As you can see in the images above, the video will float above the text conversation.
When you launch your Instant Video, your audio will be off, but you can toggle it on if you’d like.
Instant Video is launching today on both Android and iOS. To get it, you’ll need to update to the latest version of Messenger.
Facebook Messenger has had video calling for more than a year now, but sometimes you may not want to start up a full-fledged video call when you just want to share a quick look at something. That’s where Instant Video comes in, letting you quickly share video with the friend that you’re already chatting with.
