Fleksy, one of the better-known third-party keyboards on Android and iOS, has been acquired.
Fleksy announced today that its team is joining Pinterest, the popular photo-sharing social network. Fleksy’s keyboard will continue to be available on Android and iOS “for the foreseeable future,” and the company says that it plans to open-source some of its components related to the blind and visually impaired features of its keyboard.
The news of Fleksy’s acquisition comes just months after SwiftKey, one of the other major third-party keyboards on the market, was acquired by Microsoft. What’s interesting about the Fleksy is that its team was snapped up by Pinterest rather than a company known for mobile hardware or software. The good news is that Fleksy will continue to be available on Android and iOS, so you folks that are currently using it will continue to do so. The app may not see many updates going forward, though, so you Fleksy users may want to start hunting for a replacement at some point.
Have you ever used Fleksy?
