Another Nexus device bites the dust.

Google has stopped selling the Nexus Player in its official Google Store. Not only is the device missing from the “TV & Audio” section of Google’s shop, but the URL that used to take you directly to its product page now kicks you to the main “TV & Audio” section, which now shows the NVIDIA SHIELD as its sole Android TV device.

The Nexus Player launched way back in October 2014 with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and HDMI out, all crammed into a hockey puck design. It was Google’s reference design for how an Android TV device should work, and while we haven’t seen a ton of new Android TV hardware hit the market since, the NVIDIA SHIELD is a solid device and Xiaomi will soon launch its own Android TV box.

Of course, just because the Nexus Player is no longer being sold by Google doesn’t mean that it won’t be supported. The device will continue to receive software updates, including an update to Android N when it’s released later this year.

If you desperately still want a Nexus Player, you might still be able to snag one from some third-party retailers.
