Google Search is always pretty handy when it comes to looking up information, presenting you with answer cards to your questions like “How old is LeBron James?” (31) and “When was the Wild Wild West movie released?” (June 30, 1999). Now it’s getting even more useful thanks to the addition of TV listings.
Google announced today it will be adding live TV listings to search results. That means that when you search for a movie or TV show, Google will show you when your show is playing on TV next and which channel it’ll appear on. The feature is rolling out “soon,” says Google.
Also announced today were several new advertising-focused features, like new partners for Google’s DoubleClick ad platform that include Roku, MCN, and Cablevision.
The addition of TV listings should make for a nice addition to Google Search. While most cable and satellite subscribers have guides to show them what’s coming up next on TV, using those guides and a TV remote can be a pain when you’re searching for the next time that a particular movie or TV show is on.
