When LG announced the G5 last month, it spilled all of the details of the G5’s features and its Friends, but didn’t say much about when we’ll actually get to handle them. Today LG shed a bit more light on that matter.

The LG G5 will launch in the US in “early April,” LG said today. It’ll be available from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Verizon, as well as major retailers like Best Buy, Best Buy Mobile, and B&H. LG also says that select Friends — those are the G5 accessories, like its camera grip — will also be available in April.

As with past flagship phones, LG is planning a special offer for the G5. LG says that for a limited time, customers that buy the G5 will receive a free second battery and a battery charging cradle.

The G5 packs many high-end features, like a 5.3-inch 2560x1440 display, Snapdragon 820 processor, and 4GB of RAM. More notable than those features, though, is its modular design that lets you pop off the bottom of the device and attach add-ons. Those include the LG Cam Plus, which adds a camera grip, physical camera controls, and an additional 1200mAh battery, and the LG Hi-Fi Plus, a Hi-Fi DAC for improved audio. It’ll be interesting to see how consumers react to these modules and whether or not new G5 owners actually buy them.
