If you're looking for a new ruggedized smartphone to go on adventures with you, you should turn your attention to Alcatel's web store.
The Alcatel Go Play is now available from Alcatel’s website. Pricing is set at $199.99, and for a limited time, buyers will get a free ruggedized case to go along with their new phone. Buyers can choose between a dark gray, green, blue, or dark red case. The phone itself is unlocked out of the box.
When it comes to specs, the Alcatel Go Play is running Android 5.0 Lollipop on a 5-inch 1280x720 display. It’s got an 8-megapixel camera with flash on its backside, a 5-megapixel camera on its face, and a ruggedized body that’s IP67-rated for water, dust, and shock resistance. Inside of that body lives a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage (12GB available to the user), and a microSD slot for adding up to another 32GB of storage. Powering the whole package is a non-removable 2500mAh battery.
While the Go Play isn’t the most high-end Android phone around, that’s not really the point of the device. It’s meant to be a ruggedized phone that you can drop a few times, get wet, clean it off, and carry on your way. It’s pretty affordable, too, so if you’re looking for a rugged phone that’s easy on your wallet, the Go Play might be worth a look.
