Today’s a big day for T-Mobile and its Binge On streaming service.
First up, T-Mobile has added four more services to the free streaming portion of Binge On. You can now stream Amazon Video, Fox News, Univision NOW, and WWE Network without touching their high-speed data allotment. The list of services that stream free with Binge On is now up to 42.
T-Mobile has also made it easier to enable and disable Binge On with new short codes let you toggle Binge On from your phone’s dialer. You can type #BNG# (#264#) to check your Binge On status, #BOF# (#263#) to disable Binge On, or #BON# (#266#) to enable Binge On.
Finally, T-Mo has streamlined the existing methods of toggling Binge On to make them faster. There are now fewer steps to toggle Binge On using MyT-Mobile.com and in the new T-Mobile app. This new app is rolling out today to a “small group” of Android customers, with more folks expected to get access in the “next several weeks.” An iOS version of the app will launch in February.
Binge On has been the target of some controversy since its launch last November, and one of those complaints is that while you can toggle Binge On at will, the steps to do so are a bit convoluted. T-Mobile is now addressing that complaint by not only allowing you to toggle Binge On using a few button presses in your phone’s dialer app, but also shortening the other toggle methods as well. It’s kind of a bummer that the new T-Mobile app is rolling out slowly, but hey, a new app is better than no new app.
