Recently a rumor claimed that Google’s new Nexus phones, made by LG and Huawei, will be called the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. There weren’t any images to corroborate that claim at the time, but now a new leak has surfaced that supports the report.
Android Police has shared images of what’s said to be the packaging for the new Nexus phones. One box says “5X” with an X design on it, while the other reads “6P” with a similar P design. Both designs show what look to be stock Android wallpaper. We can also see that the all of the writing appears to be on a sleeve that goes around the box that holds the actual phone, with the Nexus 5X’s box having square corners and the Nexus 6P’s box having rounded corners.
In addition to confirming the names of Google’s new Nexuses, these packaging leaks show that they’ll both be available in 32GB capacities. Past reports have suggested that the LG Nexus 5X will also be sold with 16GB of storage, while the Huawei Nexus 6P will be available with 64GB or 128GB of built-in storage.
Google is holding an event on September 29, and it’s expected that the two Nexus phones will be shown there. The LG Nexus 5X will reportedly be the smaller of the two, offering a 5.2-inch 1920x1080, 12.3-megapixel camera, Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 2700mAh battery. The rumored specs for the Huawei Nexus 6P are a bit more sparse, but it’s been suggested that it’ll have a 5.7-inch display and a Snapdragon 810 processor.
