Yesterday John Legere was so excited about T-Mobile’s new iPhone 6s trade-in program that he pre-announced some of the details, including the fact that you can get Apple’s new smartphone for as low as $5 per month. Now T-Mobile has come forward with the official announcement, shedding more light on the program pricing.
As expected, you can trade in a recent flagship smartphone like the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, Galaxy S6, or Galaxy Note 5 and get a 16GB iPhone 6s with JUMP! On Demand for $5 per month for 18 months. If you’ve got a 2014 flagship like the iPhone 5s or Galaxy S5, your monthly pricing will be $10 per month. Meanwhile, trading in “almost any other phone” will get you a monthly rate of $15 per month.
Once your 18-month JUMP! On Demand agreement is over, you can either trade your phone in and upgrade to another or pay to keep the phone. If you want to keep the 16GB iPhone 6s, you’ll pay $164 to do so. I’m waiting to hear from T-Mobile about the pricing on the other models.
“But wait,” you say, “I already pre-ordered an iPhone 6s from T-Mobile. Am I missing out on this deal?” No, my friend! T-Mobile says that customers that already pre-ordered an iPhone 6s can get this same deal by trading in a device to get an “upfront bill credit.”
T-Mobile also confirmed that it’ll begin selling the Apple Watch on September 25. The big magenta carrier will only offer the Apple Watch Sport in stores, but it’ll have both the Sport and the stainless steel Apple Watch online. As for pricing, T-Mobile will offer limited time pricing on the Apple Watch Sport. The 38mm model will cost $0 down, 23 payments of $14.54 per month, and 1 payment of $14.58. The larger 42mm version will be $0 down, 23 payments of $16.62 per month, and 1 payment of $16.74 per month.
The stainless steel Apple Watch will be full retail price. That means that the 38mm version will be $549 and the 42mm model will be $599.
