Qualcomm spent the month of August teasing the features of its new Snapdragon 820 processor, and now its continuing its hype-building efforts into September.

Qualcomm today announced that the Snapdragon 820 will have an X12 LTE modem, which offers Cat 12 LTE download speed of up to 600Mbps and upload speeds of up to 150Mbps. The 820 also includes support for a host of other LTE-related acronyms like 4x4 MIMO, 2x2 MU-MIMO, LTE-U, and LWA. If you’re unsure about what those things are, just know that they’ll help to offer faster network speeds and more.

There are also some calling-related goodies included with the X12 LTE modem in the Snapdragon 820. Not only does it offer VoLTE, Qualcomm says that its Zeroth computing platform can analyze Wi-Fi quality to determine when to shift a call from LTE to Wi-Fi or back. Meanwhile, Advanced Closed Loop Antenna Tuning is meant to help reduce dropped calls.

Finally, Qualcomm has confirmed that the Snapdragon 820 will include Quick Charge 3.0 support, which can work with several connector types (including microUSB and USB Type-C) and can charge a phone from 0 to 80 percent in 35 minutes.

Qualcomm says to expect Snapdragon 820-powered devices in the first half of 2016.
