When ZTE introduced its new nubia Z9 last month, the only country that it said would be getting its thin-bezeled smartphone was China. Thankfully for bezel haters in the U.S., the nubia Z9 is going to make its way stateside as well.
The ZTE nubia Z9 will launch in the U.S. in Q3 2015 in three different models: Classic, Elite, and Exclusive. The Classic nubia Z9 will offer 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage for $564, while the Elite will offer 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage for $645. Meanwhile, the top-end Exclusive model will retail for $725 and will include a fingerprint sensor. Besides those specs, here’s what the Nubia Z9 has to offer:
One other notable feature of the nubia Z9 is its Frame Interactive Technology, or FIT. This feature lets you perform some functions by touching the edges of the Z9’s nearly bezel-free sides. For example, you can unlock the phone using a unique grip, launch the camera by turning the phone sideways and putting your fingertips on the four corners of the screen, or squeeze the phone to take a one-handed selfie.
The arrival of the ZTE nubia Z9 in the U.S. won’t be the first time that we’ve seen a Nubia phone make its way stateside, but it’s still a notable event. Manufacturers offering high-end, unlocked smartphones to U.S. shoppers still isn’t exactly common, but companies like Huawei and ZTE are helping make it more typical, and it’s great to see ZTE bringing all three versions of its nubia Z9 to the U.S. The one downside is that the phone launched in China last month, but U.S. shoppers have to wait until Q3 to get their hands on one.
