Remember that crazy Panasonic smartphone that had a 20-megapixel camera with a 1-inch sensor? Yeah, it’s coming to America.
Panasonic has confirmed that the Lumix CM1 Android smartphone will launch in the U.S. for $1000. For those dollars, you’ll get an unlocked GSM smartphone that’s got a 20-megapixel 1-inch sensor, an f/2.8 Leica lens, and 4K video capture.
The Lumix CM1 is powered by Android 4.4 and includes a 4.7-inch 1920x1080 display, 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a microSD card slot, and a 2600mAh battery.
Obviously the Panasonic Lumix CM1 isn’t the most high-end Android smartphone on the market. It’s got what may be the best camera of any Android phone, though, and so the device could be worth a look for hardcore mobile photographers. And hey, even if you’re not interested in buying one, you can at least appreciate Panasonic’s decision to bring the Lumix CM1 stateside.
