This week was off to a slow start with Memorial day falling on Monday, but as you well know from Tuesday on through today was jam packed with all sorts of news. The theme of the week seemed to be the EVO 4G as we lead up to its official release today. But AT&T certainly hit us with a surprise when they announced their new tiered data pricing, which turned out to have both positive and negative impacts for consumers. Other than that, we certainly do our best to keep you posted on news you'll want to know about. Of course, as busy as the week gets, sometimes things fall through the cracks. Below are a couple of items we didn't get to, but are relevant all the same. Enjoy!
Now this is confusing. Last week's "Who let the dogs out?" contained a brief story about the HTC Triumph, a phone we thought to be TELUS' re-branded version of the HTC Desire. But now, if you look at the picture above, you can see that the HTC Desire itself is listed in TELUS' inventory system. What on earth is going on? Phandroid has a few theories. The first posibility is that the Triumph may have just been a name used for the inventory system which has now been updated to show the actual device. Alternatively (and I'm not sure I get this unless the phones are completely different), the HTC Desire and Triumph could actually be launching alongside one another. At this point it's anyones guess, but Phandroid makes a good point in saying that regardless of what happens it looks like the folks at TELUS will be getting something that resembles the HTC desire sometime in July. Who's excited?

Late last year T-Mobile revealed a new pricing structure for post-paid customers - Even More and Even More Plus. T-Mobile's selling point was "We've been listening, America," suggesting that the new plans were geared toward what the masses truly wanted. As with anything there were varying opinions, but if you were on the side that didn't favor the new structure, T-Mobile is offering yet another option to better suit your needs. This past Tuesday, June 1, T-Mobile announced a $50 all-you-can-eat plan for unlimited calling, texting, video and pictures messages (note: this does not include data). The plan is for prepaid customers and it means you have no contract, no credit check and no monthly bill. If it weren't for the lack of data I'd be all up on that, what about you?

The Nexus one has had its fair share of ups and downs since launch, and in the end it looks like Google will be looking toward the old fashioned way of getting phones in the hands of consumers. According to Phandroid, customers (current and potential) of South Korean carrier KT can start to get excited as it would appear they will be getting the N1 sometime later this month. Apparently the decision was made based on the success KT has had in selling the iPhone. In any case, it looks like KT customers are about to have some exciting new phones to choose from. There's no exact date or pricing as of yet, nor do we know whether or not subsidies will be involved. But judging by the time frame, I'm sure this information will be coming out soon. Any South Korean readers getting excited?

It looks like tiered data is not all that AT&T has up its sleeve this week. Tuesday, BGR heard from an informant that a new "large display" is in the works and set to go up in the near future. What's so significant about a large display, you ask? Apparently these new displays aren't as simple as a piece of cardboard and a stick. AT&T is purportedly sending engineers out to corporate stores to start planning for what has been deemed "a new kind of display." BGR has been told that the displays are probably going to be for the new iPhone, as there's not much else that would warrant such planning. I don't know about you, but I'm thinking huge video displays and (pew pew) maybe some sharks with "frikkin lasers attached to their frikkin heads." Agree? Disagree? Discuss!
