If you’re an Android fan that also loves to dive into code, then today is your day, because Google has officially released Android 5.0 Lollipop source code into the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).

The fact that Android 5.0 is now in AOSP means that all of Google’s code and files related to Lollipop is now available for download. The update is build LRX21M and there are files available for many Nexus devices, including the Nexus 9, Nexus 6, Nexus Player and Nexus 5.

While the release of Android 5.0 doesn’t mean much to end consumers, it’s a big deal for device makers and developers. For example, HTC executive Mo Versi has confirmed that his company now has the Lollipop code, and so the One (M8) and One (M7) will be updated to Android 5.0 within 90 days. So yeah, this release is pretty important.
