The second generation Moto X comes with a number of new spec features over its predecessor, including a larger display and a beefed up camera. It also features a new customization option in Moto Maker: leather. According to a new leak, Motorola is planning to one-up itself by offering a special version of its new leather back option.

A leaked image shows that Motorola may offer its new Moto X with a football leather back option. There aren’t any stitches, unfortunately, but the leather appears to be textured just like a football. 

Football is a huge sport in the US, and so offering a football-backed Moto X could be a nice way to tap into that popularity to reinvigorate interest in the new X part way through its lifecycle. There’s no word on when this football-clad Moto X might launch, but with the holidays fast approaching and the the fact that we’re getting into the thick of the NFL season, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see this sooner rather than later (if it’s legit, of course).
