There have been an awful lot of rumors that’ve tried to peg down what goodies Google might include with the Android 4.4.3 update, but so far El Goog hasn’t made any official announcements. What it did do, though, is release the factory images for the update, giving everyone a chance to dive into the stock version of 4.4.3 to see what’s new.
As noted by Droid-Life, Google has included a refreshed version of the stock Phone app that comes with Android. We first got a peek at this updated dialer when Google itself accidentally tweeted a screenshot of the app back in April, but now that Android 4.4.3 is about to hit, we’re getting a better look at the app.
The overall theme of the app is much lighter than the pre-4.4.3 dialer, including lots of blue, grey and white elements. There’s also a green icon that’s used for contacts that don’t have a unique image.
Along with the refreshed Phone app, Droid-Life found that the People app has also been slightly updated. Contacts without images now have a colored box with the first letter of their first name, just like in the Gmail app.
Just as expected, Android 4.4.3 is shaping up to be a fairly minor update when it comes to new user-facing features, which isn’t a shock since we’re moving from 4.4.2 to 4.4.3. The good news is that the rumor mill suggests that there are bugs fixes a’plenty, so this update is still worth getting excited about.
Keep it locked to PhoneDog in the coming days as users continue to dig into Android 4.4.3 and find all of the goodies that Google has packed inside.
