Samsung released quite a few variants of the Galaxy S 4, and recent rumors suggest that it’ll do the same with its new Galaxy S5. According to a tip that we’ve received, one of those variants will be a Galaxy S5 Active.
A source has informed us that Samsung is prepping a successor to the Galaxy S4 Active that’ll debut on AT&T, just like the S4 Active. The S5 will reportedly launch on June 14 and will be available in green, gray and red color options.
While still unconfirmed, some of these details line up with a recent report from @evleaks. He claims that AT&T’s S5 Active will feature the model number SM-G870A and will be available in “dark green, greenish blue, ruby red, titanium silver.”
The new Galaxy S5 is resistant to dust and water, but it’s possible that Samsung may still want to offer a slightly more ruggedized version of its new flagship. If it does, it makes sense that such a device would land on AT&T since Ol’ Blue was the only U.S. carrier that offered the GS4 Active. Things may be different this time around, though, as @evleaks says that a Sprint version of the GS5 Active with the model number SM-G860P may also be in the works.
