Last year we saw HTC get in on the mini smartphone trend with the introduction of the One (M7) mini just a few months after it debuted the original One (M7). It looks like we may see a similar situation play out in 2014, as a carrier may have accidentally revealed HTC's plans for a mini version of its new One (M8).
Swedish carrier Telia has a support page that lists all of its devices that support HD Voice. As you can see in the image above, the new HTC One (M8) includes the feature. That's not really a surprise considering that HTC just introduced its new flagship earlier this week. What is interesting, though, is the entry for an "M8 mini" right below that. That entry has gone missing since it was first spotted by Swedroid, as has the rest of the HTC devices that support HD Voice.
When asked just what the heck the "M8 mini" is, Telia replied that it was just an error that somehow made it onto its website and that the list has since been updated to only include the phones that it has right now. However, the appearance of the M8 mini on Telia's website supports a claim from @evleaks that such a device is in the works. And considering both the recent mini smartphone trend and the fact that HTC launched a shrunken version of the One (M7), it wouldn't exactly be a shock to see Peter Chou and Co. repeat itself in 2014 with a One (M8) mini. Let's just hope that if and when such a device does actually launch, it's got a spec list that's closer to the full-size One (M8) than the One (M7) mini's was to the original One (M7).
