Good news for owners of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 on this fine Friday afternoon, as it appears that an update to Jelly Bean is now making its way to the Wi-Fi-only flavor of the 10.1-inch tablet in the U.S. One owner sent a screenshot over to Android Police that shows his Tab 2 10.1 running Android 4.1.1, build JRO03C. We're without a changelog for the 311MB update for now, but since users are getting bumped up to Jelly Bean, they'll like be treated to new goodies like Google Now and the smoother operation that comes with Project Butter.
The Tab 2 10.1 isn't the only Galaxy Tab family member enjoying a new treat today, as several owners of the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 are also reporting that the Jelly Bean update has made its way to them over the air. Users in the XDA-developers forums and Android Central forums say that the update weighs in at 381.05MB.
Both of these updates are said to be rolling out over the air, so if you've got a Tab 2 7.0 or Tab 2 10.1 laying around, it may be worth your time to head on into the About section in your device's Settings menu to check for the update. An alternate install method is to grab a USB cable, plug the slate into your computer and fire up Samsung's Kies software. While these updates may have taken longer to roll out than I'm sure owners of the Tab 2s would've liked, the good news is that Jelly Bean is finally here.
