Last week Sony kicked off the Xperia P's Android 4.0 update push, and now its time for some more Xperia products to spend some time in the update spotlight. The company announced today on its official blog that several 2011 Xperia models will be receiving new Android 4.0.4 firmware starting this week. The devices in question include the Xperia arc, Xperia arc S, Xperia neo, Xperia neo V, Xperia mini, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Xperia ray. As for what this new update entails, Sony says users can expect "bug fixes, performance tweaks and other improvements." That's not the most descriptive list of changes we've ever seen, but hey, an update is an update. The Xperia mini pro, Xperia neo L and Live with Walkman are due to be bumped up next, with those updates happening over the next few weeks.
When it comes to installing this latest update, owners of the aforementioned Xperia handsets that are already on Ice Cream Sandwich can download it over the air after receiving a notification. Anyone still on Android 2.3 Gingerbread will need to plug their phone into their computer and install the update using Sony's PC Companion or Bridge for Mac software. As usual, the availability of these updates can vary depending on your market and carrier, so don't fret too much if your helping takes some time to arrive.
