Time for another round of "Good News, Bad News," this time focusing on the HTC Sensation 4G. The good news is that the Sensation 4G's update to Android 4.0 is expected to kick off tomorrow, May 16th. When T-Mobile posted the changelog for the update, though, it noted that Sensation 4G owners will be required to add a Wi-Fi Mobile Hotspot feature to use the service after updating to Ice Cream Sandwich. Now a T-Mobile representative has confirmed that, yes, Sensation 4G users will need the $14.99 hotspot add-on to use the feature post-ICS. The add-on has actually been offered by T-Mobile since November 2010, but the rep explains that "technical limitations with software" led to some customers being able to use the hotspot feature for free.
So there you go, Sensation 4G folk. It's exciting that the Sensation 4G's update to Android 4.0 is just a day away, but owners that are used to having free hotspot access may now be slightly less enthusiastic about the bump to Ice Cream Sandwich. Still, the update does bring with it several goodies, like HTC's Sense 3.6 UI, resizable widgets and improved battery life, so at least there will be plenty of things to take your mind off of this hotspot news.
