Earlier today RIM confirmed that it wouldn't be showing off any new BlackBerry 10 devices at BlackBerry World next week, but it turns out that this Friday evening isn't all bad news for fans of the Waterloo-based firm. A poster in the CrackBerry forums going by the name "TRIPPIN" has posted photos of what is said to be an early BlackBerry 10 development device, showing off the front and rear of a mysterious piece of hardware that looks a bit like a shrunken down PlayBook. Unfortunately, the OP doesn't offer up much in the way of information about the device.
Since that the product shown in these photos is said to be an early development device, it's unlikely that you or I will ever get our hands on one, which is kind of a bummer considering its simple, clean look. It's possible that this device could be what RIM is planning to give to devs at the BlackBerry 10 Jam next week, as the company has said that the Dev Alpha product that it'll be handing out won't be final hardware. Still, that doesn't change the fact that most of us probably won't ever get to mess with the phone you see above. Good thing we've at least got these leaked shots to ogle. You can find a third shot by hitting up the CrackBerry link below.
UPDATE: CrackBerry says that this is indeed the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha that'll be handed out to attendees of the BlackBerry 10 Jam next week. The device isn't expected to ever go on sale to us regular folk, so if you want to play with one yourself, it may be a good time to make friends with a dev that's heading to the BB10 Jam.
