Some disappointing news for Windows Phone users on AT&T has emerged, courtesy of an AT&T Community Manager on the carrier's official forums. According to the Community Manager, AT&T is not planning to roll out the Windows Phone 8107 update to its users. The 8107 update includes bug fixes, including ones for a disappearing on-screen keyboard and Google mail sync. Neither the AT&T Community Manager nor AT&T itself has yet to explain why it may be passing on the 8107 update.
Keeping up with the trend of the past couple of days, there's also some Nokia Lumia 900 information to be shared today. It appears that the 900 may support Visual Voicemail when it makes its way to AT&T's shelves, which is expected to happen early next month. A WMPowerUser reader reports that he visited a local AT&T store at which the employees were using Lumia 900s, and he claims that some of the devices had Visual Voicemail up and running. Interestingly, some users at xda-developers have managed to get VVM working on some other Windows Phones by manually installing the aforementioned 8107 update and then getting an AT&T 4G LTE data plan. It's not clear if AT&T plans to bring VVM to any of its other Windows Phones.
The news that AT&T may be holding off on the 8107 update is kind of a bummer for the Windows Phone users on its network, especially considering how firmly AT&T has been behind Windows Phone since its launch. It's also disappointing that Windows Phone owners on AT&T have to perform a trick just to get Visual Voicemail enabled on their devices.
