Owners of the Motorola DROID R2-D2 just got the good news that their Gingerbread update is coming soon, but today hasn't been as kind to users of its DROID 2 Global brother. Our friend Matt just announced on the Moto support forums that the DROID 2 Global's Android 2.3 update has been temporarily put on hold. A Microsoft Exchange encryption issue is named as the culprit causing the new software's suspension. There's no mention of exactly when the update will resume its rollout, but Moto says that it anticipates that it'll "be available soon when it is ready."
Kind of a bummer, right DROID 2 Global-ers? The good news here is that at least Moto caught the problem early before the bad update had the chance to make its way onto too many handsets. As for those of you D2G owners that have already gotten the new software, it looks like you'll be part of a pretty exclusive group for the time being. Try not to gloat too much!
