Microsoft may not be pushing the Windows Phone 7 Mango update until sometime around the fall, but a new video showing off the platform's NoDo update may have just given us an early glimpse at WP7's next big update. At around the 2:45 mark in the video below, the camera pans down to a second smartphone with a feature not present in current NoDo-powered phones: a search key in the main menu. There's not a lot much more info to gather from the quick clip, but hey, we're never ones to turn down a sneak peek at what may possibly be unreleased software.

Keeping up with the Windows Phone news, Microsoft is gearing up to celebrate the platform's first birthday and they've decided to share some pretty interesting WP7 numbers to show how far it's come in that time. Microsoft says its Windows Phone Developer Tools have been downloaded around 1.5 million times, with 36,000 people making the decision to pay up and become an officially registered dev and 1,200 more joining every week. Those devs have managed to create 11,500 apps so far, a number which Microsoft says it isn't "artificially inflating" by counting wallpapers or allowing other platform's apps run on WP7 to increase "tonnage." Ouch. Out of the total 11,500 apps available, 7,500 of them are paid and there are 1,100 producing revenue using ads. Finally, Microsoft says that an average WP7 user downloads an average of 12 apps per month.

Windows Phone 7 has put up some pretty impressive numbers, especially when you consider that it launched here in the U.S. at the beginning of November of last year. On the hardware front, we should be seeing both the HTC Trophy on Verizon and the HD7S on AT&T in the near future, and hopefully we'll see some more new handsets in the near future.
