It's been a while since we've heard a good iPad 2 rumor, so how about we check one out before heading into the weekend? The folks over at 9 to 5 Mac claim to have gotten some photos of an iPad 2 screen protector which has a small hole up top, likely for a front-facing camera. When comparing the new protector to one for an original iPad, it's also noted that the alleged iPad 2 screen protector is a bit taller and more narrow.
Considering that both the iPod Touch and iPhone now have front-facing cameras, it seems like a pretty safe bet that the next iPad will get one, too. Other rumored specs include a rear camera, the same 9.7-inch 1024x768 display found in the first iPad, a multi-core processor, and a thinner, lighter body. If all of these features do make it into the iPad 2, do you think that the device will be able to compete with tablets like the XOOM, PlayBook, and TouchPad?
