Not that long ago, Google said that the Android 2.2 wasn't designed for use on tablet devices and, while some manufacturers are soldiering on with Froyo tablets anyway, LG has heeded those words and delayed their tablet. An LG official has said that the company has been working with Google to decide which version of Android to use on their upcoming tablet device, and the two have come to the decision that Froyo is not the OS that they want. While LG is still working things out on the software for the tablet, LG's official said that the hardware is all ready to go. So at least there's that.
There have been a multitude of manufacturers that have announced an Android-powered tablet coming out in Q1 of 2011, so it sounds like most companies are waiting for a tablet-optimized version of the OS just like LG. As I said before, though, there will be at least one tablet with Android 2.2 on board, as Samsung will be launching the Galaxy Tab some time later this year. I guess we'll have to wait until all four carriers release their own Galaxy Tab to see just how well Froyo performs on a tablet-style device.
